Monitoring the Novel Coronavirus
Whatever the situation, our goal at SabbaticalHomes.com is to educate ourselves and maintain a rational outlook. Our team is monitoring the news and regularly checking the World Health Organization website and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for updates and guidance. Frequent hand washing, avoiding large gatherings, allowing distance between yourself and others, staying home when sick and using disinfectant methods effective on viruses are all tactics to stop the spread of this virus.
Since many institutions of higher learning are transitioning classes to online classes or webinars and postponing large events, this may affect your travel plans. Specifically, some members have asked what they should do about travel plans they have already made through SabbaticalHomes.com.
Housing & Travel
As housing arrangements on SabbaticalHomes.com are negotiated between members, our best recommendation if you need to postpone travel is to reach out to the other member. It may be that the other party is also not able to travel right now, and the arrangements may be able to be postponed. If cancellation is necessary on either end, we trust that the respectful nature of our like-minded community will result in an agreement and/or refund that is amenable to all.
If you and the other member decide to proceed with the housing arrangements, please allow for additional cleaning time and protect yourself and each other as much as possible with frequent hand washing and disinfecting tactics.

While the NY Times is a great resource, I think it’s as important to check with the local news to try to ascertain the best resources in the city or town you’re going to. Many cities in the US have Facebook pages, which are updated regularly.
I know in Albuquerque NM, our mayor has done an incredible job updating the city regularly, having FB Live events everyday. He’s gone above and beyond,
